On 6th December 2025, the Ho West District Assembly collaborated with residents of Anfoeta Gborgame, Anfoeta Tsebi, and Wodamaxe to carry out the monthly Sanitation Day exercise in the communities. The activity aimed at promoting environmental cleanliness, safeguarding public health, and strengthening communal spirit.
Staff of the Assembly, opinion leaders, Unit Committee members, the Assembly Member, Zoomlion workers, and community residents came together to desilt choked gutters, clear bushy surroundings, sweep public spaces, and collect waste.
As part of the exercise, the District Environmental Health and Sanitation Officer, Mr. Daniel Kumah, educated participants on the importance of maintaining clean environments to prevent the spread of diseases such as malaria, cholera, and typhoid. He emphasized proper waste disposal, the construction of household toilets, regular hand washing, and the need for households to keep their surroundings tidy at all times. He further reminded the community that poor sanitation remains a major contributor to communicable diseases and encouraged them to sustain the effort beyond the monthly exercise.
The Sanitation Day clean-up exercise forms part of ongoing measures by the Assembly to promote a healthy and hygienic environment and is observed on the first Saturday of every month.
