The Ho West District Assembly hosted the Regional Composite Budget Hearing for the Volta Region at the Ho West District Assembly Hall on Monday 20th October, 2025. The event brought together five Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) namely: Ho Municipal Assembly, Akatsi North District Assembly, South Dayi District Assembly, Anloga District Assembly, and Ho West District Assembly. Each Assembly outlined its revenue performance, expenditure trends, and development priorities for the upcoming fiscal period.
In attendance were officials from the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC), representatives from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftency and Religious Affairs, District Chief Executives, as well as representatives of the participating Assemblies and other key stakeholders.
In his welcome address, the District Chief Executive for Ho West, Hon. Profer Francis Dusey, emphasized the importance of the exercise in promoting fiscal discipline, transparency, and accountability in local governance. He encouraged participating Assemblies to present realistic and results-oriented budgets that reflect their development priorities, while reaffirming Ho West District Assembly’s commitment to prudent financial management and improved service delivery.
The Director of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council, Mr. Avona Mohammed Akape, who read the speech on behalf of the Volta Regional Minister, delivered the address from the Minister of Finance. He underscored the need for all MMDAs to align their plans with government’s medium-term policies are translated to well-costed and implementable programmes. He further advised MMDAs to consistently use the GIFMIS platform in their financial transactions and to strictly adhere to the Public Financial Management (PFM) Regulations, 2019 (L.I. 2378) to ensure accountability, transparency, and value for money.
The Regional Budget Hearing is a key engagement organized by the Volta Regional Coordinating Council in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance as part of preparatory activities for the 2026–2029 Composite Budget of MMDAs in the Volta Region
