The Ho West District Health Directorate of the Ghana Health Service organized a stakeholders’ engagement meeting on the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination Campaign on 3rd October 2025 at the Ho West District Assembly Hall, Dzolokpuita.
The meeting aimed to provide key information on the upcoming HPV vaccination campaign, which seeks to safeguard public health by protecting young girls against cervical cancer and other related health complications. The vaccination exercise targets girls aged 9 to 14 years, both in and out of school, and is scheduled to take place from Tuesday, 7th October to Saturday, 11th October 2025.
Presenting the welcome address on behalf of the Ho West District Health Director, Mr. Edem Akorli Adzimah emphasized the importance of collective effort in ensuring the success of the campaign. He reiterated that vaccination remains one of the most effective preventive health measures and called on stakeholders to actively support and mobilize their communities for the exercise.
Stakeholders were taken through discussions on effective advocacy strategies, community sensitization, and practical approaches to enhance participation in the vaccination programme. The engagement also provided a platform for participants to ask questions, share insights, and pledge their commitment toward the successful implementation of the campaign.
The meeting concluded with a call for stronger collaboration among health workers, traditional authorities, religious leaders, educational institutions, and community members to ensure that all eligible girls in the district benefit from the HPV vaccination programme. With the support and commitment of all stakeholders, the Directorate remains optimistic about achieving its goal of protecting the health and future of the girl child.
