DEPUTY MINISTER OF EDUCATION, HON. DR. CLEMENT ABAS APAAK INAUGURATES ANFOETA TECHNICAL INSTITUTE

The Deputy Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, on Wednesday, 17th September 2025, inaugurated the Anfoeta Technical Institute in the Ho West District. The event marked a major milestone in the government’s continuous efforts to expand Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) opportunities across the country.

Delivering his keynote address, the Deputy Minister emphasized that Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) plays a vital role in equipping young people with employable skills, technical expertise, and the right work attitudes required by industries. He noted that TVET is not only about acquiring a trade but also about unlocking economic potential, fostering innovation, and building a resilient workforce. He assured that the establishment of the Anfoeta Technical Institute would help address critical skills gaps, support local economic needs, and contribute to national growth. He further reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting TVET through policies that unlock greater potential within the sector, while assuring the Ministry’s continuous support to ensure the institute thrives in the district.

The District Chief Executive of Ho West, Hon. Profer Francis Dusey, in his welcome address, described the Anfoeta Technical Institute as a timely intervention to equip the youth with practical skills, create jobs, promote inclusive growth, and drive local development in the district. He thanked all stakeholders, especially the Member of Parliament, for his tireless efforts and advocacy that ensured the establishment of the institute. He also assured the Assembly’s support in creating a conducive learning environment and urged the community to take ownership of the facilities to guarantee their sustainability.

The Member of Parliament for Ho West Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, commended the government’s commitment to youth development through skills training. He emphasized that TVET remains a powerful tool for reducing unemployment and poverty while creating avenues for entrepreneurship and boosting the local economy.

The Chief Director of TVET Service, Ing. Dr. Eric Kofi Adzroe, stated that TVET is committed to empowering individuals with practical skills for employment, fostering entrepreneurship, driving economic growth, reducing unemployment, and promoting social mobility by providing alternative pathways to a brighter future. He urged parents and guardians to embrace TVET as a first-choice career path that guarantees future relevance in an evolving job market.

The Chief of Anfoeta Traditional Area, Togbe Kwasi Drah VII, on behalf of the community, expressed gratitude to the government for operationalizing the previously abandoned facilities. He appealed for additional support in providing essential infrastructure such as an ICT laboratory, dining hall, and teachers’ bungalows to enhance effective teaching and learning. He pledged the community’s full commitment to safeguard the facilities, promote enrollment, and support the growth of the institute.

The Deputy Minister for Education, Hon. Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, later cut the ribbon to commission the facility. The institute will offer training programs in Agriculture and Livelihood, Building and Construction, Fashion Design, and Electrical & Electronics Engineering.

The inauguration of the Anfoeta Technical Institute is expected to create new opportunities for young people in the Ho West District and beyond, equipping them with practical, employable skills to drive self-employment, entrepreneurship, and national development.
