CYBER SECURITY AUTHORITY ORGANIZES SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME IN HO WEST DISTRICT

On Thursday, 11th September 2025, the Cyber Security Authority, in collaboration with the Office of Ho West District Assembly organized a sensitization programme at Dzolo Gbogame E.P. Church as part of a national initiative to enhance cyber security awareness and resilience among citizens and stakeholders within the Ho West District. The programme brought together institutions, students, traditional authorities, civil servants, security personnel, and community members.

The objective of the sensitization was to educate participants on the importance of cyber security in their daily work and personal lives, as well as to build their capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to cyber threats.

In his opening remarks, the District Chief Executive of Ho West, Hon. Prof. Francis Dusey, emphasized the need for participants to be alert and responsible when using digital platforms, especially in an era where cybercrime continues to grow. He encouraged them to attach great importance to the progeam, stressing that building cyber security consciousness is key to personal safety, community development, and overall growth in the digital era.

A team from the Cyber Security Authority delivered presentations on Cyber Security and the current cyber threat landscape in Ghana, common cyber threats such as phishing, identity theft, mobile money fraud, cyber bullying, social engineering attacks, safe online practices including password management, use of secure networks, and handling of sensitive information, sextortion, the role of individuals and institutions in protecting data and digital platforms and cybercrime reporting mechanisms

During the open forum, participants asked practical questions relating to their work, mobile money transactions, and social media use.

The programme was highly interactive and enlightening, leaving participants better informed and equipped with the knowledge to safeguard themselves and their institutions against cyber threats contributing to a safer digital environment.
