HO WEST DISTRICT CELEBRATES 68TH INDEPENDENCE DAY

This year’s 68th Independence Day celebration in Ho West District featured a simplified parade marked by cultural performances and poetry recitals. Unlike previous years, there was no march past of school children. This is in line with the presidents directive to scale down on the commermoration. The event was anchored on the theme ” Reflect, Review, and Reset.” which emphasized the reflection on the country’s past, reviewed the current state of affairs and think about the actions needed to ensure national growth and development.

The Tsito Senior High Technical School Cadet Corps, three-time consecutive national champions, mounted the parade with an excellent display of discipline and performance. Vibrant cultural dance performances and poetry recitals by students from selected basic schools captivated the audience.

The Presiding Member of Ho West District, Hon. Adamu Kasim Osman, who delivered the President’s speech on his behalf, stated that the theme of the celebration aligns with the President’s vision to reset the nation, focusing on restoring faith in the country, leadership, and institutions. He emphasized that the reset agenda calls for a shift in behavior, attitude, and mindset to create the Ghana we all desire.

Hon. Adamu Kasim Osman urged everyone to rally behind the President in his pursuit of progress, which focuses on four critical areas: economic restoration and macroeconomic stability, improving the business environment, governance and constitutional reforms, and the fight against corruption. He also emphasized the need for inclusivity, ensuring that every Ghanaian, regardless of background, has the opportunity to contribute to national growth.

A key highlight of the celebration was the presentation of awards by the District Director of Education, Mrs. Paulina Slyn Eworde Gobe, to Master Mershack Asari, a student from Dzolokpuita D/A JHS, and Miss Pretty Avortri, a student from Hlefi D/A E.P. Basic School, for emerging as winners in the Volta Regional Basic Maths and Science Competition. Their achievements were recognized as a beacon of excellence, inspiring other students to strive for academic success.
