HO WEST DISTRICT ASSEMBLY ORGANIZES FIRST TRANCHE GRANT DISBURSEMENT & MINI MARKET FOR CLASS BENEFICIARIES AT KPEDZE-DODOME AND AMEDZOFE-BIAKPA CLUSTERED COMMUNITIES UNDER GPSNP 2

The Ho West District Assembly, in collaboration with the Zonal Coordinating Office of the Ghana Productive Safety Net Project (GPSNP), successfully organized the first tranche grant disbursement and Mini Market for Complementary Livelihood and Assets Support Scheme (CLASS) beneficiaries from the Kpedze-Dodome and Amedzofe-Biakpa clustered communities under the Productive Inclusion (P.I.) Component of GPSNP 2.

This initiative aims to support poor households in establishing and managing enterprise activities to create stable and reliable income streams, thereby improving their economic well-being. Beneficiaries were drawn from the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) and Labour-Intensive Public Works (LIPW) programs.

The events took place on January 21, 2025 where the first tranche of start-up grants was distributed to 88 beneficiaries from the Kpedze-Dodome and Amedzofe-Biakpa clusters. All beneficiaries had completed comprehensive training in income-generating activities, business management, and micro-enterprise skills. 15 beneficiaries were trained in Rabbit rearing, 17 in Gari processing, 20 in Snail Rearing, 30 in Oil Palm Processing and 6 in Mushroom Production.

The second tranche of the grants will be disbursed based on the progress of each beneficiary’s business.

As part of the program, a Mini Market was set up to enable beneficiaries to purchase essential items from approved vendors to kickstart their businesses after withdrawing funds from their E-Zwitch cards.

Beneficiaries expressed profound gratitude for the grants, emphasizing that the initiative has not only empowered them but also provided them with the opportunity to significantly improve their livelihoods.
