
The Ho West District Assembly held its Third Ordinary Meeting of the First Session of the Fourth Assembly on Friday, 29th November 2024 at the District Assembly hall.
In his opening address, the Presiding Member (PM), Hon. Adamu Kasim Osman, welcomed all to the meeting and expressed his gratitude to Hon. Assembly Members and staff for their efforts and commitment to serving the best interests of its electoral areas and the district. He urged everyone to work together to build on the achievements and address the District’s challenges.
The District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Ernest Victor Apau, in his sessional address, delivered the Executive Committee (EXECO) report and the state of the District. The address covered various sectors, including education, infrastructure development, agriculture, health, and water, among others.
On infrastructure development, the DCE emphasized the significant additions to the District’s infrastructure stock. These include the construction of 10 No. 2 bedroom self-contained apartments and an ultra-modern official bungalow for the District Chief Executive. He also identified non-performing projects that have been awarded to new contractors for completion. Notable among these are: Completion of the Avenui CHPS compound at Awudome Avenui, completion of DCE official residence at Dzolo-Kpuita, completion of Abutia Area Council office, and completion of Tsito Area Council office.
Hon. Apau added that the District has received approval for the extension of the following projects: Construction of 1No. 2-bedroom staff bungalow for the District Magistrate at Dzolo-Kpuita, construction of 1No. market shed at Kpedze Market and the construction of a 0.47 km U-drain at Kpedze Todze.
The DCE stated that the Zonal Office in Koforidua, in collaboration with the Assembly, handed over four community farms under the GPSNP phase 1 to the communities. He entreated all concerned Hon. Assembly Members to support the Farm Management Committees to maintain the farms.
With regard to health, the DCE noted that the construction of the District Hospital is about 40% complete and is expected to be finished soon. He also mentioned that the health center at Abutia is ongoing and will soon be completed for use.
To expand and ensure quality education delivery, the Hon. DCE stated that a six-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities for Abutia Teti and Dodome Dogblome D/A is about 74% complete.
On road works under DRIP, the Hon. DCE stated that there have been massive road improvements in recent months due to the government’s agenda to improve the standard of living through basic road development. He reiterated his commitment to visiting all communities to complete unfinished projects.
As the general election approaches, the DCE called for a peaceful environment before, during, and after the elections.
The review of the 2024 Work Plan and Budget was not approved.
