HO WEST DISTRICT ASSEMBLY HOLDS THE SECOND ORDINARY MEETING OF THE FIRST SESSION OF THE FOURTH ASSEMBLY

The Ho West District Assembly (HWDA) held its Second Ordinary Meeting of the First Session of the Fourth Assembly on Friday, August 30, 2024, at the District Assembly Hall.

The Presiding Member, Hon. Adamu Kasim Osman, called the meeting to order, and the day’s business commenced. He welcomed all to the meeting and expressed gratitude for their efforts in developing the District, while emphasizing on the importance of cooperation and continued collaboration to address future challenges.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Ernest Victor Apau, presented the Executive Committee report and the District’s status to the house. He covered various areas, including, Infrastructure, Education, Health, Agriculture, Social, Environment and Sanitation, Finance, Tourism among others.

Hon. Apau in his address announced that the Assembly has received fertilizers and maize seeds under the Planting for Food and Jobs Phase II program, and these inputs are for selected farmers who have registered online.

The DCE reported progress on healthcare infrastructure, including the 40% completion of the District Hospital and the ongoing construction of the Abutia Kpota Health Centre, funded by the Government of Japan (JICA).

In education, Hon. Apau highlighted the completion of a 6-unit classroom at Abutia Teti, the 74% completion of a classroom at Dodome Dogblome D/A, and the completed but yet to be furnished ICT centre at Kpedze by the Coastal Development Authority (CODA).

He emphasized the importance of strengthening sub-structures, citing efforts by the Assembly to complete the Abutia Area Council and Tsito Town Council, and also securing accommodation for Honuta Area Counci as part of ensuring effective functionality operationalization.

Hon. Apau touched on infrastructure development, mentioning the Assembly receiving heavy duty equipments to tackle road infrastructural gap. He further indicated the construction of a 10No. 2-bedroom self-contained house and an ultra-modern District Chief Executive Bungalow.

To boost tourism, the DCE called for support in expanding of the onepone endangered species reserve to cover Honuta and Kpoeta ecotourism areas and developing waterfalls within these areas. He also confirmed that land has been secured for an industrial park at Tsito.

As the 2024 election approaches, the Hon. DCE urged all to maintain a peaceful environment and also support security agencies in fighting crime.

The 2024 revised Budget Estimates and Fee Fixing was presented and approved by the house.
